What is a sunroom?
Answer: A sunroom is a conventionally built addition to your home that adds outdoor recreational space and activities. Advances in design give homeowners a wide range of options in the construction and layout of their sunroom as well as having advanced thermal windows and roof systems. A sunroom is a recreational addition where you can relax and spend time with friends and family.
Why should I choose a sunroom over a standard addition to the home?
Answer: A standard room addition would be used for a permanent living space whereas a sunroom is designed as an additional room to protect you from weather and insects while still being able to enjoy the outdoors. Sunroom additions are also much less costly and take less time to install than a traditional room addition.
According to code, sunrooms may be designed with a larger glass area (65% or more) than traditional room additions. Sunrooms can be designed as wall-to-wall windows that provide beautiful views while keeping out insects and bad weather. Screen systems keep insects out while allowing fresh air into the home. In addition, the new square footage of a sunroom has a significantly lower tax assessment than the added square footage of a standard home addition.
What activities and equipment can I use in my sunroom?
Answer: A sunroom can be used for all kinds of activities for friends, family, or just for your own time to relax. Installing a spa is a great way to enjoy your sunroom. Spas are best installed at the time of the original installation, but we will gladly put in your spa at a later time if desired (this requires us to dismantle a portion of your sunroom).
A sunroom can also be used as your own personal gym, a game room for the kids, or a separate dining room. It can be a place for your pets to enjoy fresh air and sunshine while being protected by bad weather conditions and insects. You can grow a beautiful garden that obtains plenty of sunlight or use the sunroom for entertaining guests during holidays and birthdays.
How will my sunroom stand up to harsh weather conditions?
Answer: Our sunrooms meet the most rigorous building code requirements (both in your area and nationally) against high wind conditions (up to 110 mph) and are regularly tested to make sure those requirements are upheld. The roof systems on our sunrooms are designed to support large snow loads.
Does your sun room add value to my home during the economic downfall of our state?
Answer: Yes. The square footage of your sunroom is added to the overall square footage of your home and the value is increased proportionately as your home gains it’s previous positioning in the market.
Example: If your house used to be worth $275,000 and is now worth 200,000 due to the economy, the added value would be based on current market square foot pricing
Can sunrooms have electricity?
Answer: Yes. Electricity can be set up similarly to your residence. We can also refer you to a company that can install air conditioning and heating units.
Who takes care of permits and engineering?
Answer: We have a complete staff for computer assistant drawings (CAD’s) and over 1300 jobs worth of construction and permitting experience.
How do you get passed CCNR’s of HOA’s like Caughlin Ranch, Arrowcreek, and Somersett?
Answer: Because new sunroom technology allows us to build your sunroom addition so that the exterior (walls, roof, etc.) architecturally matches your home.
What if we choose to start off with a patio cover. Is there any chance that walls can be added later?
